How it Started and Where it’s Going …

In late 2010, VBF was asked to sponsor a pastoral training program in Addis Ababa and Awassa, Ethiopia. Pastor Ron led a team in early 2011 in cooperation with a leader named Geza, who organized the entire trip with an education program from International Christian Ministries. We did four separate trips and added a woman’s ministry program and expanded by doing outreaches into the rural areas with selected churches. We later changed our focus and started to build churches and children’s schools in mostly Muslim villages. Each school has a partner church on the same grounds. The schools were greatly appreciated by local peoples and we expanded the program and built 45 schools across over 700 miles from the border of Somaliland to South Sudan! We did a big expansion to the tribal areas of the Omo Valley and put in 13 schools in this region. There are many unreached people groups in this region and we have shown the Jesus film there with amazing results. [Continue reading]

Ethiopia

VBF has 45 schools across the country, and about 13 of them are in the Omo Valley. We have a national organization there with regional directors to carry out all of our plans. The country is currently experiencing a civil war in the far north and severe drought in the Omo Valley tribal areas. We are working with regional Hamar tribe governing body to reopen ten schools which have been closed due to food shortage causing malnutrition. The cattle are their main source of living and we are feeding them also. We send trucks with cooking oil, maize rice, and more for emergency relief from starvation.

Uganda

VBF has built a very large educational facility for children in Buickwe, Uganda, one hour east of Kampala. We have about 500 children there from kindergarten to grade eight. We have also brought in about 150 orphans and very poor children from the inner city to live there throughout their education. We built two large dormitories as well as a clinic there. We have a 5-acre farm with animal husbandry program and even fish ponds. In the near future, we will start construction on a trade school for many young people to learn computers sewing, engineering, carpentry, and more. This is providing the community with unprecedented educational facilities.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” —Mark 16:15
